Dogs are the best in my opinion. They are my favourite animal.
The first types of dogs were the wolf, then different types of dogs came. There are over 400 breeds of dogs like Newfoundland, Kuvasz, Komondor, English Setter, Clumber Spaniel, Irish Setter and many, many more. My favourite type of dog is a Kuvasz. Teacup Chihuahuas are the tiniest dogs on earth. They are so delicate that if you accidentially drop one they could die. Irish Wolfhounds and Great Danes are the tallest dogs on earth. The most expensive dog is the Shar-pei. People don't know why they are the most expensive dog, they aren't the best dog, actually they are not a good dog at all. The Blood Hound is used for searching for things. Golden Retrievers are used for seeing eye dogs. German Shepherds are used for searching for things too like at airports to sniff in peoples bags for anything dangerous. Saint Bernards search for people who got stuck in an avalanche. When a Saint Bernard finds somebody they dig the person up from under the snow then lie on top of them to keep them warm. Kuvaszs are working dogs, a job they do is herd sheep. Kuvaszs come from Hungary. Greyhounds are the fastest known dogs. They can run up to 38 miles per hour. There are other fast dogs too like the Saluki and the Whippet. Different types of dog groups are working, hound, terrier, herding, sporting, non-sporting and toy. A dogs vision is black and white. Even if they see black and white they can see better than us. A dogs hearing is ten times better than humans!!
Did you know that some dogs are two times stronger than us? It's only the big dogs that are two times stronger than us, little dogs wouldn't be two times stronger. Big dogs are very protective and little dogs like toy dogs bite a lot but they can be protective.
There are many famous dogs like Balto the part wolf who saved children by bringing medicine from one place to another. Balto has a statue of him in New York Park. Grizzly Bear a Saint Bernard saved his mistress from a real grizzly bear. Taffy a Cocker Spaniel saved his young master from drowning. Benji is a famous dog who is in shows and he can answer questions like how many points do you get in one touch down and he would bark seven times. He makes thousands and thousands of dollars for each thing he does. Budweiser a Saint Bernard saved two girls from a burning house. Patches a mixed breed saved his master three times in one night from drowning in frozen water. Bobby stayed by his master's grave for fourteen years. He stayed alive by going to this store where he got a apple everyday.
Some very good dog books are Big Red, Lassie Come Home, Old Yeller, Sounder, Where the Red Fern Grows and White Fang. My favourite book is Big Red and if you want to read a really sad book then you should read Old Yeller.
If you want a small dog with lots of personality I suggest getting a Yorkshire Terrier.
